Troubleshooting

The video will not load, stays black or uses the wrong language. What helps?

If a video will not start, first try another offered source for the same episode and language. If all of them fail, test another episode and check service status; use the result to distinguish a source failure from a client or connection problem before deleting any data.

Covered in this guide: Website in a browser · FireAnime for Android · FireAnime Desktop · FireAnime TV · FireAnime for LG webOS · Streamyfin · Swiftfin · Findroid · Jellyfin-compatible apps

First useful check: try another source for the same episode

If the page opens but the video is black, buffers forever or shows a source error, choose another offered source in the same language. If that works, you can continue watching without resetting the app. If your client has no source menu, start with the different-episode test below.

Keep the title, season, episode, language and source name visible while testing. A source is the provider for one video; it is not the server address used to sign in to an app.

Narrow down where playback stops

  1. Nothing has started yet: on the website, press the player's start button. If a verification appears, complete it; if the player explicitly asks you to sign in, use its login action. A verification or access notice is different from a broken stream.
  2. One source fails: on the website, select another source button in the same language row below the player. In an official app, use its client-specific source selector. If only one source is offered, or your compatible client such as Streamyfin/Swiftfin has no provider menu, move to the different-episode test instead of looking for the website's controls.
  3. Every source for this episode fails: open a different episode, preferably from another title. Keep the same device and connection so you change one thing at a time.
  4. The other episode works: the problem is probably limited to the original episode/source. Try another available language only if you want that version, then report the affected episode.
  5. Neither episode works: check whether other pages load and open Service status at the top of Help. If there is no known incident, try the same episode in a current browser on a phone or computer. Record whether it works there.
  6. Only one app fails: use the client-specific actions below. Do not immediately uninstall or clear all data; that can remove downloads or guest progress without fixing the source.

A saved episode fails with no internetUse download troubleshooting; a queued or partial file is not a completed offline episode.
Playback fails only inside a shared roomUse Watch Together troubleshooting; the room needs a supported player and matching playable content.
A second browser works, the first does notCheck for a visible blocked-content or site-permission notice in the first browser. Change only a relevant site-specific setting you understand; do not disable browser security globally.

A working alternative source is enough to continue. You do not need to “repair” every listed source before watching.

Report a reproducible failure without losing data

If the tests do not give a working option, send a report with the affected episode, language, source name, client/version, approximate time and results of the different-episode/browser checks. “Episode 4 fails on source A, source B works” is much more useful than “nothing works.”

Do not include credentials, pairing codes or full private streaming URLs. For an episode-specific error, use Report → Report Episode on the website if shown; choose the matching issue type and explain the symptom.

A green service-status page does not rule out a single unavailable provider or episode. A listed title is not a promise of a working source. Changing DNS, repeatedly reinstalling or deleting your account is not a required first step.
