Watch Together

Watch Together is out of sync or disconnected. What can I do?

First check whether your own video plays and whether the room panel says it is connected. If the video works and the episode matches, select Sync; if the video fails, repair the source first. A closed or expired room needs a new invitation, not repeated synchronization.

Watch Together in the integrated web player

Covered in this guide: Website in a browser — Browser

Start with these two checks

Open the Watch Together panel below the website player. Read the connection status and the anime’s S… E…. Then check whether your own video can play at all. A working chat and an unplayable video are two different problems.

Stay in an integrated website source. If you are using an embedded external player or a separate TV/Jellyfin app, return to the supported room setup.

Recover in the right order

  1. Video black, stalled or showing a source error: choose another offered integrated source in the same language. If none works, follow playback troubleshooting. Sync cannot load a broken source.
  2. Video works, but the room says Disconnected/Offline: restore your internet connection and keep the tab open while it reconnects. If it remains disconnected, reopen the invitation once and sign in if prompted.
  3. Connection works, but the episode is wrong: compare the room’s S… E… with the page heading. As a member, select Open room episode. As host, use Sync this episode only if you intend to move everyone to your current episode.
  4. Same episode, playable video, wrong time: select Sync in the room panel and allow the video to catch up. Do not keep seeking manually while it applies the host’s position.
  5. Same timestamp, different scene: ask the host which source, language and total video duration they see. Choose a matching version if available; editions with different cuts cannot be fixed by setting the same number of seconds.
  6. The invitation is closed, expired, not found or you were removed: ask the host for a current invitation or access. A removed participant should not try to bypass the host’s decision.

Use the visible status to choose the next action

Status or symptomMeaning for your next step
SyncedThe room state was synchronized. If the picture is still wrong, compare the episode and video cut.
Resyncing / Out of syncKeep the video tab active and allow synchronization; try Sync if the video is otherwise healthy.
Disconnected / OfflineReconnect the room before retrying chat or host actions.
This episode is not synced to your room yetYou are on another episode as host. Decide whether to move the room here or open its existing episode.
The room is currently watching another episodeAs a member, return with Open room episode.
Room closed / Room expiredThe old session is no longer usable; request a new session invitation.

What should happen?

Your page and the room panel identify the same episode, your local video plays and the room returns to a synchronized state. One participant’s temporary buffering does not mean everyone should close the room.

If it keeps happening

Keep the playback tab in the foreground and avoid suspending the phone or computer during the session. If only one person repeatedly buffers, have them test that episode alone; if everyone disconnects together, check service status.

For a support report, record browser/device, time of failure, host or member role, source, language, episode and the exact visible status. State whether solo playback works and whether all participants were affected. Do not include account credentials, the private invitation URL or chat contents in a public report.

Do not clear browser data, reinstall apps or create repeated replacement rooms before making these checks. Host transfer and closure explain how to end or hand over a session deliberately.
