Watch Together

Who controls Watch Together, and how do I manage a room?

The Host controls shared play/pause, seeking and episode changes; members can choose their own stream source and use Chat. In Members, the host’s three-dot menu offers Make host and Remove. Leave room ends only your participation; Close room ends the session for everyone.

Watch Together in the integrated web player

Locate the room controls

First create or join a room. On its website episode page, scroll below the player to the Watch Together panel. The panel shows the current episode, connection status, Members and Chat. Check who is labeled Host before trying to change shared playback.

Manage the session

  1. Start, pause or seek for everyone: as host, use the normal integrated player controls. Ask members to wait for synchronization instead of each seeking manually.
  2. Choose another episode: as host, use the episode navigation. If the notice says This episode is not synced to your room yet, select Sync this episode, or press Play to move the room to that episode. Check the panel’s S… E… afterward.
  3. Give control to someone else: find their name under Members, open their three-dot menu and choose Make host. Wait until their role changes to Host. You then follow their playback.
  4. Remove a member: as host, open that person’s three-dot menu, select Remove and confirm. Check the name carefully; this removes them from this room, not from FireAnime.
  5. Send a chat message: type into Write a message… and press Enter or the send icon. Chat is disabled while disconnected.

Choosing another source does not change everyone else’s provider. Agree on a comparable version: different recaps, cuts or inserted scenes can show different moments at the same timestamp.

Leave without ending everyone’s evening

  • You are a member: choose Leave room. The group’s room remains available.
  • You are host and want friends to continue: use Make host first, confirm the new host in the list, then choose Leave room.
  • Everyone is finished: as host, choose Close room and confirm Close this Watch Together room?. This ends the session for everyone.

Do not use Close room merely to hide the panel. Closing the browser is not a reliable substitute for deliberately transferring control or ending the session.

What should happen?

The member list shows the intended host, and the panel identifies the episode that everyone follows. After closure, the previous invitation no longer opens an active session.

If an action is unavailable

If you cannot find a member’s menu or change episodes, check whether you are actually Host. If the room says Disconnected, restore the connection before retrying role changes or chat. A greyed-out source is a playback issue, not a host-permission problem.

For drift, a wrong episode or a room that will not reconnect, follow Watch Together troubleshooting. Invite links and room chat are for the group; avoid posting private conversations in public bug reports.
