How do I control the player with touch, keyboard or a remote?

Choose the player you are actually using#

Start an episode first using the playback guide. The instructions below describe FireAnime’s integrated players, not an external website embedded in the video area or Streamyfin/Swiftfin.

Fullscreen fills the screen with video. Picture-in-picture is a small floating video window; it is not the same as the app’s own mini-player.

Basic controls on the website#

1. Move the pointer over the video, or tap it on a touchscreen, to reveal the controls.
2. Use Play/Pause to stop and continue. Drag the timeline to seek to a different point; the displayed time lets you check the result.
3. Select the fullscreen icon. Use the exit-fullscreen control or Escape to return, where the browser supports it.
4. With a keyboard, press Tab to focus the player’s buttons and activate the selected button with Enter or Space. A focused timeline can receive its own arrow-key controls.

Official Android mobile app#

1. Tap the video once to show or hide the controls.
2. Double-tap the left side to go back 10 seconds, or the right side to go forward 10 seconds. Use the timeline for larger changes.
3. Select the fullscreen icon to expand the video or return to the app layout.
4. Tap Start picture in picture, the small-screen icon, when it is offered. Android must allow picture-in-picture for FireAnime. To return, use the floating window’s expand action.
5. Use Episodes for another episode, or Source to change provider/audio. Those actions are different from seeking within the current episode.

If the floating window does not open, check Android’s app permission for picture-in-picture. The exact system path varies by Android version; search system Settings for “picture-in-picture” and select FireAnime. It is not an offline-download option.

FireAnime Desktop keyboard shortcuts#

These shortcuts apply to the integrated Desktop player while you are not typing in a field. A focused player control may handle its own key action.

Click away from a text field before using a shortcut. If a key does nothing, reveal and use the corresponding visible player button. Do not assume that an embedded external source has these bindings.

TV remote controls#

FireAnime TV on Android TV/Google TV/Fire TV: press Up or Down to reveal the player controls, then move focus with the directional pad and select with OK. Use Source and Episodes to open their panels. OK/Select while the controls are hidden toggles play/pause; it is not the same as revealing the navigation. Back closes the active panel before leaving the player; use the visible timeline for a deliberate jump.

LG webOS: when controls are hidden, OK, Up or Down reveals them with Play/Pause focused. Left/Right seeks ten seconds; holding a direction lets you scrub farther, and releasing commits the seek. Play/Pause media keys work directly. Back first closes a panel or hides controls, then leaves playback.

What should happen?#

You can pause, find your place and return from fullscreen without leaving the episode unintentionally. The timeline should show your new position after seeking. For openings and endings with timing data, use the skip button instead of guessing a seek distance.

If a control is missing or behaves differently#

• The video area contains another provider’s interface: you are in an external player. Choose an integrated source to use FireAnime controls.
• Fullscreen works but picture-in-picture does not: these are separate features with separate device support and permissions.
• A TV direction changes focus instead of seeking: close the active panel first; remote behavior depends on whether controls or a menu are focused.
• Your seek keeps returning to another position in Watch Together: members follow the host. See room controls.
• The video never becomes playable: controls cannot repair the stream; use playback troubleshooting.
