How do I save playback preferences and control autoplay?

The Android mobile and TV apps and the LG webOS app have a setting for automatically playing the next episode. The website does not have that same next-episode switch; on Desktop you can cancel the end-of-episode countdown. Stream language and interface language are separate choices.

Covered in this guide: Website in a browser · FireAnime for Android · FireAnime Desktop · FireAnime TV · FireAnime for LG webOS

Which setting are you trying to change?

Stream language chooses audio/subtitles. Interface language translates menus. Autoplay next episode moves to another episode after the current one ends; it is different from a browser starting the current video automatically.

These defaults belong to the client you set them in. Do not assume that changing one device updates every app. See language terminology before choosing GER SUB, GER DUB or ENG SUB.

Set defaults in the official Android mobile app

  1. Open the Settings tab.
  2. Under Playback, tap Preferred stream language. This opens the playback preferences page.
  3. Under Preferred language, select GER SUB, GER DUB or ENG SUB. The checkmark identifies the active choice.
  4. Under Preferred stream provider, choose an offered provider, such as VOE or CookieStream.
  5. Under Continue watching, turn Autoplay next episode on or off. When enabled, a short countdown appears at the end of an episode if another episode exists.
  6. Open another episode and check its selected language/source. If a countdown is already visible, tap Cancel autoplay to stop that one continuation.

Website, Desktop and TV differences

ClientWhat you can actually do
WebsiteChoose a source in the required language row below the episode player. This informs selection while you browse; there is no equivalent playback-preferences page or next-episode autoplay switch in this player. Use the next-episode navigation yourself.
FireAnime DesktopChoose the provider/language dropdown on the episode page. At the end, select Cancel autoplay in the five-second countdown to stay on this episode. This cancels that countdown; it is not a saved global off switch.
FireAnime TV: Android TV/Google TV/Fire TVOpen Settings → Playback, choose a language tile and switch Play next episode automatically. Off keeps the replay screen after playback ends.
LG webOSOpen Settings, choose the playback language and Subtitle fallback. Under Player, set Play next episode automatically to On or Off. The fallback is used when the preferred version is unavailable.
Streamyfin, Swiftfin or another Jellyfin clientIts own player settings apply. A FireAnime website choice does not configure this separate app.

What should happen?

The next episode uses an available stream matching your client’s preference. With next-episode autoplay disabled on a client that has that switch, playback stays on the current episode after it ends. You can still choose the next episode manually.

If a preference seems ignored

  • Wrong audio despite the correct menu language: change the stream language, not the interface language.
  • Your preferred stream is missing: the client may fall back to another available version. Check the selected language before watching; a preference cannot add a missing dub or subtitle release.
  • Another device behaves differently: repeat the client-specific settings there. Account progress synchronization does not mean all player settings synchronize.
  • The browser refuses to start: press Play. Browser autoplay restrictions are separate from next-episode behavior.
  • There is no next episode: autoplay cannot invent one. Open the anime’s episode list and check what is currently available.

For changing only the episode currently playing, follow source selection.
