How do I sign in to an official app with a QR or device code?
Display a sign-in code in the official app, scan it or enter it at Activate device, then compare the device, code and account before approving. Expired codes must be renewed in the waiting app; FireAnime approval is separate from Jellyfin Quick Connect.
Covered in this guide: Website in a browser · FireAnime for Android · FireAnime TV · FireAnime for LG webOS · FireAnime Desktop
Before you scan anything
Use this for an official FireAnime TV, webOS or desktop app that displays a phone/QR sign-in screen. You also need your FireAnime account on a phone or browser to approve the request. Only approve a code you generated on a device you control.
Streamyfin and Swiftfin are different clients. Their Jellyfin Quick Connect is not this system; follow Jellyfin setup with your username and password instead.
Approve your own TV or computer
- Open the official app's sign-in screen and choose its phone/QR option. Leave the code visible on that device.
- Scan the QR code using your phone camera. If scanning is inconvenient, open Activate device in a browser, enter the displayed eight-character Activation code and select Continue. The page accepts the code with its separator.
- If the page says Sign in before you approve, select Sign in and use your FireAnime credentials. You return to the request after login.
- Compare Match this code with the waiting device. Check the device name and Sign in as account. Choose Deny if the code, device or account is not what you expected.
- Select Yes, sign in this device. Wait for Device signed in, then return to the app and let it finish signing in automatically.
The activation page currently uses English button labels even when other website pages are in German. If offered, Open in the FireAnime app lets you review the request in the official Android app; it is not required for browser approval.
What should happen next?
Your account appears on the waiting device without typing its password on the TV. Check the displayed account before opening personal lists. You can remove that pairing later from Signed-in devices.
Fix a code or approval problem
- This code has expired: return to the waiting app and generate a new code. Use the new code, not a saved screenshot or the previous browser tab.
- We could not verify this request: compare the characters with the current code, check the connection and try the new request again.
- Approved in the browser, but the app is still waiting: keep the app online and allow it to finish. If it stays stuck, reopen its sign-in screen and start a fresh request; do not approve unrelated codes to test.
- Wrong account shown: do not approve. Sign into the intended account in the approving browser and start again.
- You have no working account access: the code does not recover a lost account. Use forgotten-password help.
- Never paste active codes or QR images into support messages. Anyone whose request you approve may receive account access.
