How do I download episodes for offline viewing on iPhone or iPad?
For offline episodes on iPhone or iPad, Streamyfin is the documented compatible option; Swiftfin does not offer offline downloads in this supported setup. Install and connect the client first: downloading an app does not save an anime episode.

Install and connect first
Use Streamyfin on iPhone/iPad, connected to https://media.fireani.me with your FireAnime account. If you only downloaded the app from the App Store, finish iPhone setup before looking for videos.
You need free device storage and a connection during the transfer. Streamyfin describes downloading as experimental, so test one episode on your installed version before relying on a whole season. Streamyfin feature information
Save and test one episode
- Open the FireAnime library for the language you want: Anime · German Hardsub, Anime · German Dub or Anime · English Hardsub. This choice matters because these are separate video versions.
- Open an anime, its season and the individual episode's detail page. Do not stop at the series poster.
- Open the episode's download action. In the English interface the individual-item action is Download episode; confirm Download if a confirmation opens. Check that you selected one episode, not a series or season.
- Open Streamyfin's Downloads area using its down-arrow download control. Monitor the active task and keep the app open while testing. The control's location can differ by client version and layout.
- Wait for the transfer to finish and find the saved episode in the downloads list.
- Disconnect Wi-Fi and mobile data, then open that episode from Downloads and play a short section. Check picture, sound and the expected subtitles; reconnect afterwards.
The control names above are English; use the equivalent actions if your client is translated. Download controls and navigation are owned by Streamyfin, not the FireAnime website.
When is it safe to rely on the download?
When the completed episode plays inside Streamyfin with the network disconnected. A download animation, a listed title or an episode that streamed while you were online does not demonstrate offline readiness.
The file stays on this device. It will not appear automatically on an iPad, PC or Apple TV signed into the same account.
If the download action is missing or fails
- You are using Swiftfin: This supported Swiftfin setup has no offline-download route. Install and connect Streamyfin instead; the app names refer to different players.
- The episode cannot stream either: Check playback failures. A broken or restricted source cannot be fixed by repeatedly downloading.
- It starts but stops when you leave the app: Repeat the test with Streamyfin in the foreground and a stable connection. iOS background behavior is not a promise that a started task will finish.
- Storage is low: Remove only unneeded files through the client's Downloads management, then retry one episode.
- An old tutorial asks for an Optimized Versions server: That upstream component is deprecated; it is not an additional server you need to set up for FireAnime. Keep the normal server address. Upstream deprecation notice
- It still fails despite working online playback: Record the client version, episode, language and exact error for support. Do not uninstall as the first test: that can remove working local downloads.
