How do I change reply, mention and quiet-hour notifications?

Open Account → Contributions → Notification settings to save separate reply, mention and anime-release preferences. Quiet hours apply only to delivery channels that support scheduling; use device-level Do Not Disturb when silence is essential.

Covered in this guide: Website in a browser · FireAnime for Android · FireAnime Desktop

Which notification are you trying to control?

The website's Notification settings save account preferences for replies, mentions and anime releases. You need to be signed in. These preferences do not themselves create anime subscriptions, grant phone notification permission or configure every third-party client.

For one anime's languages or notices, use subscription settings. For a conversation, use reply/mention preferences below. When silence is essential, use the device's Do Not Disturb or notification controls as well.

Save account notification preferences

  1. Open Account → Contributions → Notification settings in a browser. The page heading is Comments & reviews.
  2. Set Direct replies for notifications when someone replies directly to your comment.
  3. Set Mentions for notifications when someone mentions your username. This is separate from the reply switch.
  4. Set Anime releases for notifications from subscriptions. A particular anime must also be subscribed with the right languages and its in-app notices enabled.
  5. If wanted, enter start and end times under Quiet hours. These are saved for delivery channels that support scheduling; they are not a universal mute.
  6. Select Save preferences and wait for Attention preferences saved.

Where do I read the notifications?

Open the bell labelled In-app notifications in the website header. Select a notice to return to its comment or release. Mark all read clears the unread state; it does not delete the underlying content or unsubscribe you.

To confirm your settings, reopen Notification settings and check the saved switches. Saving preferences is not a promise that an old event will be sent again.

An alert did not arrive — what should I check?

  • A reply or mention: open your comments, select Open at episode and inspect the thread. A missing alert does not prove nobody replied. Then check the matching reply or mention switch.
  • A new episode: check Subscriptions, including selected languages, Unread only, language filters and the per-anime in-app switch.
  • The website bell has the entry but your phone stayed silent: account notices and operating-system push are not the same thing. Check the client's supported notification delivery and the phone's permissions; do not assume every client sends background pushes.
  • Quiet hours did not silence something: use device-level Do Not Disturb for dependable silence. Saved quiet-hour preferences apply only to delivery paths that support them.
  • Preferences could not be saved: retry after checking the connection and wait for confirmation. Leaving the page without a successful save may leave the old settings active.

If a repeatable problem remains, report it with the notification type, client/device and approximate time, without private message contents or credentials.
