Downloads & offline

What do download statuses mean, and how do I cancel or retry?

A queued episode is waiting its turn; a failed episode did not finish and cannot yet be played offline. Android offers Try again on eligible failed tasks, while desktop uses Retry; cancelling an Android task deletes its unfinished download, whereas desktop keeps a cancelled entry.

Covered in this guide: FireAnime for Android · FireAnime Desktop — Android phone / tablet · Windows / Linux

Open the right queue

On Android, tap the top-navigation Downloads down-arrow to open Offline library → Current downloads. On desktop, open Downloads in the left sidebar and look at Download activity. Both queues belong to this device, not your account's other devices.

Read the status and choose an action

Android: retry or cancel

  1. Find the episode under Current downloads, checking the season and episode number.
  2. For a failed task, tap Try again when shown. This retries the stored source address.
  3. To stop a task, tap its X. In Cancel this download?, choose Cancel Download; Keep Downloading leaves it running. Cancelling deletes the unfinished download.
  4. If retry immediately fails again, reopen the online episode and choose a working source before starting a fresh task. See download failures.

Desktop: retry, cancel or remove

  1. In Download activity, find the exact episode. Hover over the small action icons to see their names.
  2. Select the circular-arrow Retry for failed or cancelled tasks.
  3. Select Cancel (X) for a queued or downloading task. It remains listed as cancelled and is not playable offline.
  4. Use the trash Remove control when you want to remove the task and its local files. This is not a pause button.

What a successful retry looks like

The task returns to the queue, progresses, then moves into the completed library. On desktop that is Ready offline; on Android open the downloaded anime and look for Ready to watch. See playing saved episodes.

What happens if I close the app?

Android does not reliably resume unfinished transfers after the app closes: on the next start they can appear as failed with Download interrupted (app closed). Keep the app in the foreground for important downloads and retry interrupted tasks.

Desktop must remain running to transfer files. After a restart, a transfer interrupted while downloading is queued again from 0%, not guaranteed to continue at its old percentage. Failed or cancelled tasks still need Retry. Sleep and loss of connection can interrupt either client.

Try again on a “could not load downloads” message reloads the list; it is different from retrying an individual failed video.
