Comedy Duo Cotton Makes Guest Voice Appearance in Star Detective Precure! Anime Film

The official website for Eiga Meitantei Precure! Fushigina Niwa to Futari no Himitsu (Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Secret of the Two) announced that Shinji Nishimura and Kyon from the Japanese comedy duo Cotton will appear as guest voice actors. The two play Dame-Dame, mysterious creatures who cause the "X-Mark Incident" by throwing X-marks and sticking them onto things.The feature film based on the 23rd and current Precure TV series, Star Detective Precure!, is scheduled to open in Japan on September 18, 2026.

Cotton is a comedy duo belonging to Yoshimoto Kogyo Tokyo Headquarters, formed on April 2, 2012, by Shinji Nishimura and Kyon. They previously appeared on stage as special support guests at the launch press conference for the Star Detective Precure! TV anime series held in January.Cotton played more than ten roles in total, including eight Dame-Dame roles of different sizes: small, medium, and large. Dame-Dame does not speak words and expresses emotions using only the two characters "Dame" (saying it 196 times in the movie). Nishimura commented, "We were so amazed ourselves that we could make such voices, and we worked hard on character preparation with enough momentum to overturn the image of Cotton." In addition to Dame-Dame, former announcer Nishimura drew on his experience to voice the role of a TV host, while Kyon played the role of a TV commentator.

Hanako Ueda, an episode director for Wonderful Precure! andYou and Idol Precure, is directing the Star Detective Precure! feature film with a screenplay by Yoshimi Narita, the series composition writer for Precure Splash Star (2006–2007), Yes! Precure 5 (2007–2008), and ***Wonderful Precure! ***Emiko Yoshimoto, the character designer for Witchy Precure! (2016–2017), serves as the character designer and chief animation director for the film.The synopsis of the film on the website reads (translated):

*One day, the rumored X-mark Incident occurred in town! When someone is marked with an X, their precious belongings stop moving or become unusable, and it seems everyone is in trouble...*As Anna and her friends investigate the "X-mark incident," a fairy client named Rain appears before them. His request is to protect Karin from the Dame-dame! Guided by Rain, they arrive at a place as beautiful as a dream called Karin's Garden. There, they meet a girl named Karin and her guardian fairy, Alan. It seems that Alan and Rain care very deeply for Karin.After befriending Karin, Anna and the others immediately begin their investigation. However, a Dame-dame suddenly appears, even in this peaceful garden...
